Annually, the Rotary Club of Lake Wylie presents a literacy and water safety program for kindergarten students in the Clover School District. The program includes providing students with books and a singalong CD, as well as a visit from the otter with the them of “Everyone should learn to float.”

“Josh the Baby Otter” was created to help children remember to stay away from water unless accompanied by an adult. The program was born from the loss of 2-year old Joshua Collingsworth. His father wrote a book, distributing thousands of copies to day cares, preschools, and kindergarten classrooms across the country.

The clubs proximity to the lake makes it a great fit for the club which hopes to impact local youth through the program.
