In September 2025, the Rotary Club of Lake Wylie donated 5 hydroponic growing system to Clover High School, planting more than just seeds—we planted opportunity, hands-on learning, and service.
Over the past five months, students and staff at Clover High School have actively put the system into practice, nurturing it from setup to harvest. Through dedication and teamwork, the hydroponic system has flourished, producing fresh, healthy lettuce grown sustainably right on campus.
Tomorrow, January 28 at 1:00 PM, that effort comes full circle as students harvest the lettuce and assemble harvest kits for CAAC, extending the impact beyond the classroom and into the community. What began as an educational initiative is now directly supporting families in need—an outcome that truly reflects Rotary’s commitment to Service Above Self.
This project highlights the power of collaboration between the Rotary Club of Lake Wylie, local schools, and community partners. It demonstrates how innovation in education and sustainability can translate into meaningful community impact.
We are proud of the students, educators, and volunteers who brought this project to life and look forward to many more harvests that nourish both minds and communities.
The photos below capture students at Clover High School assembling and installing the hydroponic systems following the September 2025 donation by the Rotary Club of Lake Wylie. Through hands-on participation, students took ownership of the project—learning sustainability, teamwork, and responsibility while preparing the systems for long-term use. These same systems are now producing fresh lettuce that will be harvested on Tuesday, January 28, and packaged into food kits for CAAC, completing the journey from classroom learning to community service.
